I remember being little and watching the Looney Tunes all the time. They were so funny. Bug Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wiley Coyote. They were my mentors at the age of 4. There was one particular time that they reenacted Little Red Riding Hood. I thought it was funny how a big hairy animal could pass as a little old lady. How did Little Red Riding Hood not notice immediately that it as a wolf and not her grandmother?
Unfortunately, that question is true of our lives as well. Only the wolves in our lives look different, but we all have them. How did she not notice that he was a horrible guy that would only cheat on her in the end? How did he not notice he was getting caught up with the wrong crowd? Why did he start using and throw his scholarship away?
There are so many wolves in our lives. People that seem nice, that seem attractive, that seem loving, but in the end only lead us astray and hurt us or our witness. In 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, Paul says, “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.” The church in Corinth was being infiltrated by wolves. The people were following these false teachers over God.
It is sad that we miss out on the blessing of God by following the demands of our peers, that we miss out on the adventure of following Christ by seeking the acceptance of our friends, that we miss out on the beauty of God by seeking the beauty of the world.
A wolf is a beautiful creature until it attacks you. Do not be misled. There are wolves in your life. Find them and get rid of them before they attack.
