Morning

There are many times that people are surprised by my age.  At the age of 20, God has blessed me with a lot of responsibility and opportunity that I work very hard at owning, but there are many times in my life that I begin to feel overwhelmed and wonder if God picked the wrong guy for the job.

One of these times, I spoke with another pastor who was young as well and asked how he dealt with all of the pressures of serving God.  “TC, it is all about having a good morning.”  I was surprised by his answer.  He went on to explain.  When we try to live our entire life with excellence it can become overwhelming.  Just focus on your mornings.  Wake up.  Spend time with the Lord.  Exercise.  Begin the day strong, with your focus on the King and the rest of the day will follow, then the rest of the week, then month, then year and eventually your whole life.

Too often we look at our whole life and try to fix it all at once.  We worry about the next day and how we can do better, but the Bible is clear that worrying about our future can only worsen our situation.  Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Start with one part of your life.  Focus on giving it to God.  For me it is my mornings.  I don’t moan and crawl around the house.  I begin my morning in exercise and prayer to remind myself the rest of the day what is most important.  Time with God is the ultimate breakfast of Champions

It all seems too much when we try to change our lives, that is why we have to let God do it.  We just need to concern ourselves with paying attention to Him and what He wants to use us for.
