2 Corinthians 3:18 - “So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”
I know. At first glance that verse doesn’t make any sense, but when I fully understood what this verse was saying it greatly impacted my life. Let me explain.
When Moses spent time in the presence of God in Exodus 34, his face was radiant. It exploded with light. So to keep the people of Israel from thinking he was God, Moses covered his face with a veil until the light wore off.
2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us that we never need to cover the glory that Jesus had placed on us. The things that God has done for us need to be shown to everyone around us so they can accept the light of Christ into their hearts from seeing it in our life.
I think that is amazing, but the next part of the verse is what caught my attention. “And the Lord…makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image.” When I read this, I was stunned. It doesn’t say that sometimes God is changing us to be more like Him. It is implied that we are continually changed into His likeness!
This means that every little thing I do is bringing me one step closer to being like Christ. Every step, every word, every action gets me closer. Even the mistakes that I make, even the hard and painful times I experience, all bring me closer to Christ’s likeness.
Never loose hope. God never gives up on us. When God looks at you, He never sees mistakes, only potential.
